So what is the work of the Church in today's world?

This question comes to surface after reading a quote from a famous preacher Billy Sunday who said "I believe that lack of effecient personal work is one of the failures of the Church today. The people of the Church are like squirrels in a cage. Lots of activity, but accomplishing nothing . It doesn't require a Christian life to sell oyster soup or run a bazaar or a rummage sale..."
So what does this tell us about the life of the Church in today's world? In what areas do you see weaknesses in the Church today?

Is there anything wrong with this picture?

Television evangelist Pat Robertson suggested Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, which Robertson opposed.
"He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America,'" Robertson told viewers of his long-running television show, "The 700 Club."
"God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,'" he said.

So what's going on here? Is there any truth to this? Was it a 100% false statement or just bad timing on Pat's part? Doesn't the Bible demonstrate God's wrath on individuals and whole nations throughout the scriptures? Well just trying to get some minds thinking out there! It is obviously a hot topic! Let me know what you think!

You must have an opinion!

If you haven't watched "Dog" the Bounty Hunter, you have surely heard of this man. Now you may be wondering why in the world I am posting about "Dog" Duane Chapman anyway...well if you ever get a chance to watch the show (check local listings for times) you will notice that he talks about Jesus, quotes scripture and on his official website proclaims to be a born-again Christian. You will also find out that he speaks to youth groups and churches. This guy really grabbed my attention. Is he for real? Where are the fruits? Cussing, smoking, lying, and many others ending in -"ing." Just trying to get some opinion...maybe some scripture reference for an individual like "Dog." What would you do if you ran into "Dog"? What would you say after he told you his story?

Caller number 9 your name please!

Quotes to Remember

"How shall I feel at judgment, if multitudes of missed opportunities pass before me in full review, and all my excuses prove to be disguises of my own cowardice and pride?"

W.E. SANGSTER
British Pastor of the
Weslyan Church

Whose job is it anyway?

It embarasses me to even ask the question: Do the majority of Christians care if people are going to hell when they die. What causes us to pass people everyday without exposing them to the disease of sin and the answer to that disease...Jesus Christ? Do we really believe that we are who we say we are when it no longer bothers us that a man or women may spend an eternity in the fires of HELL? It seems that everyone else in the Christian world is so preoccupied with "keeping the aquarium" or spinning their wheels on meaningless events and discussion. This blog is and was created to help those who consider themselves followers of Jesus Christ to step up to bat and equip ourselves with sharing the gospel message to those we come in contact with everyday. So I leave you with this...Who's job is it anyway? The pastor? The missionary? Yourself?
