I personally own and preach with a John MacArthur Bible along with a TNIV (Today's New International Version). Therefore this discussion peeked my interest. The question here is what is more effective for the Kingdom...translating the closest possible word from the original language (even though this culture may not understand it?) or choose a word that is the closest to what the culture would understand while keeping as close as possible to the true word?
