After watching this, I would love to make some statement that makes me sound great....but it is not going to happen. I will make this statement...I have been fighting a battle against the wrong person...Satan.
I always knew there was a battle in my heart for me, I just didn't know it was against myself. Wow...
I am right there with you Kirby! We blame stuff on Satan so much of the time when Satan himself knows that he doesn't have to stick around and tempt us...because we will take care of it ourselves! We tend to give Satan too much power. I loved the statement that nobody goes to hell because of Satan...double wow!
I will agree with you both, however... I want us all to understand that there is an enemy out there, and there is a battle going on all around us. You might not be able to see it, but it's there. It is very dangerous (to me) for people to not see that we do have an adversary. He only comes to kill, steal, and destroy. John 10:10. Again, if it was just us and God, who do you think we are going to blame? Surely none of us will be blame God. (Yeah right)... What's the first words out of most people's mouths when something like 9/11 happened? Why did God let this happen? We must not forget that there is someone else that belongs to this story, and his name is Satan.
I want to be clear that I don't think we should focus on that, but so many times people live like there is no villain in their lives. I'm positive that is just what Satan wants them to think.
Sure Butch, I believe that Satan loves it when poeple believe that he does not exist...but I also think that he doesn't have to work to hard on some of us because he knows that we will do a good part of the work ourselves! Think about this though you are the one who makes the choice...every time, every minute, every day. Satan has already made his choice and has already been judged and soon he will be punished! I guess the thing to keep in mind when I hear John Piper's message on War, is that we have to make our own choice becasue someday we will stand before God to give an account of everyhting "we" have done (not what Satan has done). Yes the enemy is out to kill steal and destroy, but we also battle with the flesh that we live in, the sinful nature!
